Access to Work login: what to do when it won't work

There's no single "access to work login" page - and that alone trips up most people. Here's how to find the right one and fix the most common things that go wrong.

When you've been awarded Access to Work, you don't log in to a single government portal. You log in to whichever provider has been assigned to handle your claims - for most ND founders, that's Maximus and their customer portal.

Finding the right login page

Your login URL is sent in the welcome email from your provider after your award is approved. The URL doesn't always come up cleanly in a search engine, so bookmark it the moment you have it.

If you've lost the welcome email: don't waste an afternoon searching. Email or call your assigned contact and ask them to resend the credentials. It's a normal, daily request.

When the login fails

  • Temporary password expired. Most portals send a temporary password that has to be used within a short window. If it's gone stale, request a fresh one.
  • Trailing spaces from copy-paste. Paste into a notepad first, then re-copy. Or just type the password manually.
  • Cached session. Try a fresh incognito window before assuming the account is broken.
  • Browser quirk. Chrome and Edge tend to behave best with these portals; Safari sometimes won't load specific upload steps.

Where do I log in to Access to Work?

If your provider is Maximus, you log in via the Maximus customer portal using the credentials emailed to you after your award is set up. There isn't a single 'access to work login' page; the URL depends on your provider.

I can't find my Access to Work login email

Check spam and promotions folders, and search your inbox for 'Maximus', 'Access to Work' and the name of your assigned contact. If it really isn't there, email or call your contact and ask them to resend - they do this constantly.

My Access to Work login isn't working

Most login issues are stale browser sessions, expired temporary passwords, or copy-paste errors that include a trailing space. Try an incognito window, a password reset, and typing the password manually.

Is there a Maximus login app?

There's no dedicated app - login is browser-based. The portal works on phone browsers but is genuinely easier on a desktop or laptop.
